A Winnetka site idled for years after a developer failed to start a luxury apartment building he proposed in 2012 is on the verge of being reactivated after another developer’s proposal got the nod from village leaders.
On March 22, Winnetka’s village board voted unanimously to approve the proposal from Murphy Development Group for the site at Elm Street and Lincoln Avenue. It’s been almost six years since the previous developer’s ambitious $98 million plan shut down for good, leaving what Village President Chris Rintz called at the time “a horrible black eye on the community.”
