Chris Horney joined Murphy Real Estate Services in 2013 and currently serves as the company’s Managing Director. Chris brings a breadth of real estate and finance experience to the role, including real estate/asset investment analysis and development execution. Chris leads the development team by analyzing and underwriting commercial real estate development and acquisition opportunities and is actively involved in the execution of all development projects. Chris also oversees and supports the firm’s business operations, including financial planning and budgeting, staff development and overall business strategy.

Chris is involved in the day-to-day management and oversight of the firm’s development initiatives, such as a portfolio of daycares in locations across the US in partnership with several early education providers. Additionally, he leads Net Lease Development initiatives, which assist national and regional tenants in their development of prime locations across the U.S. from site selection and design through construction.

Most recently, Chris completed the redevelopment of the Old Cook County Hospital and the ground-up development of a seven-story office complex for Michigan State University in Grand Rapids. Other projects include the Paragon, a 500-unit apartment tower in Chicago, 318 N Carpenter, a 105,000 SF office building in Fulton Market, Hyatt Centric “The Loop” Chicago, a redevelopment of Class C office into a 257-key hotel, and the award-winning redevelopment of the landmark Chicago Motor Club into a 143-key Hampton Inn.

Additionally, Chris is a LEED-accredited professional, and a member of the Economic Club of Chicago where he serves as Chair of the Real Estate Membership Committee, is on the Building Renovation board at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, the Treasurer of Purdue Sigma Chi House Corporation and President of Purdue Sigma Chi Future Fund.

Prior to joining Murphy Real Estate Services, Chris held roles at Inland American, Hersha Hospitality Trust, and Barton Malow.
